George Sarah is an electronic composer and multi-instrumentalist. He is a former member of industrial/dark-wave band Stereotaxic Device (1988-1992) and T.H.C. (Buffy The Vampire Slayer). Born in Seoul, South Korea, he moved to the US at the age of five. He has garnered critical acclaim for his unique brand of synthetic acoustic music bridging the normally discrete worlds of electronic, industrial and classical as well as film/tv scores and album releases. 

CURRENT PROJECTS (2023): CONCERTS: 

Sarah premiered an original soundtrack to Carl Dreyer's 1928 silent film "The Passion of Joan of Arc" commissioned by Grand Performances in Los Angeles and is currently performing around the US at film festivals and performing art centers. The score can be described as modern classical and early chorale music mixed with alternative electronic. He is accompanied by a string quartet and four voice choir with George performing keyboards. Recent performances include the Milwaukee Film Festival, Texas Theatre in Dallas, Bloomington Indiana, Film Fest Tucson, Iowa City at FilmScene, Borrego Springs Performing Arts Center, West Hollywoods Winter Concert Series, Paradise Theatre Toronto, Canada, Sacred Music Fest in Kalamazoo MI, Crest Theatre in Sacramento, Grand Performances in Los Angeles, Soka Performing Arts College, Bowers Museum.

April 2021: Feature film 'Her Name Was Jo'  streaming on AmazonPrime and Paramount Plus, music by George Sarah. Several pieces can be found on the new 2021 CD + Digital release 'Vicissitudes'.

In 2020, Sarah completed two feature films, one a horror thriller had Its premier at the Cannes Film festival.

ALBUM RELEASES: 2021:  George Sarah - Vicissitudes. Format: CD, + Digital. Released April 09, 2021 on Gothic Karen Recordings.

2020 saw two vinyl releases on Seattle’s RealMoreReal records.  

Both are in the deep listening, ambisonic, field recording, nature. The first is a collaboration of 22 artist in a 3-day field recording residency producing two 22 minute compositions that were recorded outdoors in Bayview State Park, Mount Vernon Washington.  

The second release is called ‘The Four Player Model’.  

Four composers from four ends of the world, Egypt, Germany, Seattle, and George Sarah in Los Angeles, to create contrast or an opposing perspective to each piece of music started by the first composer moving to the last. A global collaboration and investigation into the praxis of listening.

In Aug 2008 George composed music for the ceremonies at the 2008 summer Olympic Games in Beijing, China performed by the Beijing Modern Dance Company, and choreographed by Poetic Kinetics (large-scale art installations and experiential design group). 

His songs have been featured on CSI, CSI NY, HBO Documentaries, Chris Rock's Everybody hates Chris, and has scored 31 episodes for various networks including the Discovery channel. He was a frequent performer on ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ and has had his music played on Buffy spin-off ‘Angel’. His songs have been licensed to over 100 tv/film and multi media projects.

George Sarah has sold over 35,000 CD’s and has appeared on over 50 compilations 11 full lengths, and 7 EP releases. He has collaborated with members of the Los Angeles Master Chorale, David J (Bauhaus/Love and Rockets), Alain Whyte (Morrisey), James Fearney (Pogues), Robert Williams (Captain Beefheart),  Anthony Head, Joss Wedon (Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Avengers), Angela McCluskey (Telepopmusik), Beijing Modern Dance Company, and Poetic Kinetics (large-scale art installations and experiential design group). 

PAST CONCERTS:

As a session musician Sarah toured as a bass guitarist for Death Ride 69 opening for My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult across 30 cities. Other tours include Europe and the U.S. with his previous project THC and Stereotaxic Device.
